Get a fresh look with dermaplaning insurance cover

You’re on a mission to leave your clients’ skin looking fresh-faced and radiant. But what happens when their feedback is less than glowing?

Claims of physical and mental injury are more than just a minor irritation. They can quickly drain your funds and tarnish your reputation.

Dermaplaning insurance is a pain-free way to smooth over, or even remove, the damage. Faced with accusations of negligence or bodily injury, it pays your legal bill and any compensation you might be liable for.

You can continue to deliver top-notch dermaplaning treatments, knowing your insurance cover is there to take the rough with the smooth.

Why do I need insurance for dermaplaning?

It doesn’t matter how highly trained you are or how high your professional standards.

Because of the potential for slip-ups on your part, or a bad reaction on your client’s, dermaplaning insurance is a must-have.

A slip of the blade here. An allergic reaction there. Any adverse reaction to a product or treatment can lead to a compensation claim being filed against you.

If that happens, you might have to fight your case in court. Alongside that goes paying an eye-watering amount for a lawyer and, if you’re found at fault, damages to your client.

Settling the case yourself takes time, money and expertise you probably don’t have. A lot of stress and worry, too.

The alternative? Let your dermaplaning insurance cover do it all for you.

What does dermaplaning insurance cover?

We recommend getting two different types of dermaplaning insurance. These cover you whether you’re based in a salon, go out to meet clients or have your own treatment room at home.

The first, treatment and public liability insurance, is a combined policy. It covers accusations of physical or mental damage after a treatment goes awry, as well as third-party injury and property damage.

We’re talking scarring, redness, irritation or skin pigmentation caused by the procedure itself; or an allergic reaction to the after-care products.

Or haphazard accidents, like if a treatment table collapses under a client and they injure their back. Or if you spill a product over someone’s expensive carpet and have to replace it.

Finally, salon or portable equipment insurance pays to repair or replace your kit if it gets lost, damaged or stolen.

How much does dermaplaning insurance cost?

Dermaplaning insurance is only available to qualified therapists, so you need at least a Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) to buy it. Check with your trainer if you’re not sure about the exact status of your qualification.

The cost of dermaplaning insurance depends on what you buy and the level of cover you opt for. The cost can go up for loads of different reasons. For example, if you do any work outside the UK or want to backdate your insurance to cover previous work, the cost will go up a bit.

You can buy covers individually or purchase a package of treatment liability and public liability cover. Add on extra covers, like cyber insurance, and it’s likely to cost a little more.

But seeing how insurance claims can easily run to several thousands of pounds in compensation and legal fees, it’s a small price to pay in comparison.
